Hi Mr Webmaster, I am helping dad out at work with a wireless solution. Netgear DG834G 54Mbps Router in the main office where broadband connection fitted. Routed and works fine. 20 metres away through 3 breeze block walls is a small office containing three machines. On linking through wireless solution I am getting a 30% connection quality and web browsing is hit and miss. What do you recommend; a wireless bridge somewhere in between or a wired wireless bridge to the office (a wireless bridge which has to be part wired)? Have you had any dealings with bridges of this sort? can i depend on it Question I know what you thinking, wireless, 20 metres through breeze blocks... yes, i know.... Dad said it was the office next door, thats before i noticed all the metal alloy framework for their stock shelves too Exclamation

Why not just bung another accesspoint in the 'far office' - you'll need to run a cable to it from your wired router though, is that a problem?
That way - if you need more wired stuff later on you can get a little 3com office connect switch and bung that there. Your wireless pc's can still run as well.

Remember that wireless networks are 'shared' only one device gets to 'talk' at once. If speed becomes a problem - with the cable run you can stick a switch in place and link the pc's hard wired.

waddya think?

I had put a little bid onto a part wired bridge on the old eBay. I sniped the bugger and so will see what happens. They are struggling for cash and the problem is with running cables. The buildings are quite a way apart, they have run telephone cables externally to the buildings to get them up and running!! The PC's will be moved around hence why they wanted wireless. I suggested they get it wired in but because of the cost of getting it done properly they have chosen against it. What can you do, if they're tight, they're tight Exclamation
