Is it possible for the X100P (~£10 cards) to detect an incoming fax and do something with it?

It would be nice to have the fax sent to 2 email address as a pdf, but just receiving the fax would be a start.

I have only been able to find information on it that says "the X100P struggles to detect the fax", but no one is showing any configs or HowTo's.

ANY help would be great. I read through *Wiki but no luck

Thanks.

p.s. Nice to see a * forum with some knowledge, thanks for the support.

Hiya pgudge,
I haven't tried this myself but I believe you need a fax extension set up in your incoming context

something like
exten => fax,1,(do something)
exten => fax,2,(do something else)

the only thing is - I don't know what the (do something{else}) commands are yet Confused

Just done a quick 'Google' - there seems to be two camps so far...
1, the (do something) is a dial(ext) where ext is a device that has an actual fax machine on the end.
2, the (do something{else}) is as below.

Quote:
+ ; Did we get a fax?
+ exten => fax,1,SetVar(FAXFILE=/var/spool/asterisk-fax/${UNIQUEID}.tif)
+ exten => fax,2,rxfax(${FAXFILE})

Doing a search on the Wiki for faxing seems to validate this ... Have a look HERE and see how you get on.

Cheers
Wayne.
